Student Spotlight 2025

Tate Plaza and Stage

Each year, Student Spotlight features a wide variety of student groups performing on the outdoor stage at Tate Plaza. See the below schedule of performers and vendors:

Vendors’ start times

10 a.m. – Painters Society (selling prints and paintings)

11:30 a.m. – Stillpoint Literary Magazine (distributing past editions of Stillpoint Literary Magazine for free)

Performers’ time slots 

10:00 – 10:15 a.m. – UGA Ballroom Performance Group (dancing salsa-style to “Tu Cariñito” by Luisito Ayala Y La Puerto Rican Power)

10:15 – 10:30 a.m. – Cory Borek (singing with acoustic guitar)

10:30 – 10:45 a.m. – Arushi Raza (dancing to a two-minute “jathi” [of pure dance] while conveying the legend of Varaha Deva [or the half-human and half-boar avatar of Lord Vishnu]).

10:45 – 11:00 a.m. – UGA Department of Dance Contemporary Modern Dance Class (demonstrating work from their class)

11:00 – 11:05 a.m. – UGA Department of Dance Ballet II Class (performing a short dance from their class)

11:10 – 11:15 a.m. – UGA Department of Dance, Dance Repertory Project group 1 (performing “Ballet Remix” – a jazzy ballet in sneakers)

11:15 – 11:20 a.m. – UGA Department of Dance, Dance Repertory Project group 2 (performing “Ballet Remix” – a jazzy ballet in sneakers)

11:25 – 11:30 a.m. – UGA Department of Dance Ballet II Class (performing a short dance from their class)

11:30 – 11:45 a.m. – Stillpoint Literary Magazine (reading selections from the past edition of Stillpoint Literary Magazine)

11:45 – 12:00 p.m. – Michael Steitz and Susanna Poston (playing “Thank Goodness” duet from the musical “Wicked” with vocals and trumpet)

12:00 – 12:15 p.m. – Saurabh Anand (reading a South Asian fiction short story)

12:15 – 12:30 p.m. – no performers (15-minute break)

12:30 – 12:45 p.m. – UGA Redcoat Band Derbies (performing pep tunes)

12:45 – 1:00 p.m. – Improv Athens (performing improv, including 2-3 short-form games with suggestions from the audience)
