Launched in spring of 2025, the donor-funded Layton Design Studio bridges academic learning and professional practice. Students work as a team of art directors with non-profit and business clients alike from concept to execution, cycling through the many facets of project development, pricing and deliverables.

UGA Theatre opens 2025-2026 season at Morton Theatre with ‘The Revolutionists’
Georgia playwright Lauren Gunderson’s “The Revolutionists” is a darkly comedic play set during the French Revolution, bringing together four unlikely heroines — playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen Marie Antoinette and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle — who wrestle with art, violence, legacy and the meaning of change in uncertain times.

Violinist Augustin Hadelich performs solo recital at UGA Performing Arts Center

Conservation in the galleries
At the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia, art is being conserved in the galleries in full view of the public. Atlanta-based art conservator Larry Shutts is stabilizing and cleaning “Close” by Joan Mitchell, an abstract expressionist painting that’s been in the museum’s collection since 1974.
